Badr Al Samaa Hospital, Ruwi, marked another major milestone in advanced healthcare with the inauguration of its Centre of Excellence in Orthopaedics, Joint Replacements & Spine Surgeries during a special Continuing Medical Education (CME) event held at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Qurum. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Brigadier Dr. Nasser bin Salim Al Hinai, Director General of Medical Services for Military & Security Services and Acting Director General of the Medical City, in the presence of the and honored by the presence of Special Guest Colonel Dr. Salah Al Mandhari, Managing Directors and Executive Directors of Badr Al Samaa Group, senior doctors, healthcare professionals, invited dignitaries, and members of the media.

The newly launched Centre of Excellence aims to provide comprehensive orthopaedic, joint replacement, trauma, and spine care supported by highly experienced specialists who are experts in sports medicine, joint replacements, spine surgery, orthopaedic oncology, paediatric orthopaedics, limb lengthening, deformity correction, coupled with  advanced surgical technologies, minimally invasive techniques, and integrated rehabilitation services. The centre is equipped to manage complex orthopaedic and spine conditions with a focus on precision, safety, faster recovery, and improved quality of life.

As part of the CME program, Dr. Ahmed Rizwan delivered a session on “Complex TKR and THR: My Experience,” while Dr. Navaneet Kamath presented a session on “Innovations & Accessibility in Orthopaedic Oncology” The sessions witnessed active participation from healthcare professionals and included interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions.

Speaking during the occasion, Chief Guest Brigadier Dr. Nasser bin Salim Al Hinai appreciated the continuous advancement of specialized healthcare services in the private healthcare sector and said, “The introduction of such advanced centres reflects the growing capabilities of Oman’s healthcare sector and supports the vision of providing high-quality specialized medical care within the country itself. These developments play an important role in strengthening healthcare accessibility and reducing the need for treatment abroad.”

In a joint statement, the Managing Directors of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, Mr. Abdul Latheef and Dr. P. A. In a joint statement, Executive Directors Mr. Firasath Hassan and Mr. Moiden Bilal stated, “The Centre of Excellence in Orthopaedics, Joint Replacements & Spine Surgeries has been established with a strong focus on patient outcomes, safety, precision, and multidisciplinary care.” They further added, “Just last week, we introduced ESG – Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty – an advanced minimally invasive weight-loss procedure, and tomorrow we will also be launching Cochlear Implant services. These initiatives reflect our continuous efforts to elevate healthcare standards and expand advanced treatment options within Oman.”
