BADR AL SAMAA HOSPITALS, RUWI AND AL KHOUD RETAIN PRESTIGIOUS JCI ACCREDITATION

Badr Al Samaa Hospitals, Ruwi and Al Khoud recently retained prestigious Joint Commission International, USA (JCI) Accreditation. JCI, the gold standard, accreditation ensured recognition of Badr Al Samaa Group’s untiring and always improving commitment towards ensuring high standards in quality of care and patient safety.  Badr Al Samaa Hospitals, Ruwi and Al Khoud are proud retaining JCI accreditation, after both facilities were first accredited in 2016. Both hospitals performed exceptionally well, Badr Al Samaa Hospital, Ruwi had 100% compliance while as Badr Al Samaa Hospital, Al Khoud had 99% compliance with the set standards.

JCI is the largest and one of the highest quality international healthcare accreditation bodies of the world. It focuses on continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of healthcare by education, advisory, accreditation and certification services. This accreditation will be valid for 3 years, after three years a similar reaccreditation survey will be conducted. Both hospitals were assessed on the recently revised JCI standards, 6th Edition, which are more comprehensive and stringent.

On this occasion the managing directors of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, Mr. Abdul Latheef, Dr. V T Vinod and Dr. P A Mohammed in a joint statement said, "We are highly jubilated by JCI re-accreditation of two of our hospitals with outstanding performance. Being the leading private healthcare group in Oman, it is our commitment and responsibility to set standards and trends in quality of care and patient safety. This accreditation will further increase the confidence of our patients. Our doctors, paramedics and allied services staff diligently follow the laid policies and protocols to ensure every healthcare function meets the standards. This accreditation has only increased the standards of care, our pricing is still the same and affordable.”

JCI survey is very meticulous and stringent in their  evaluation of quality and patient safety parameters set under 14 chapters, these chapters are divided in two categories line Patient Centered Standards (International Patient Safety Goals, Access to Care and Continuity of Care, Patient and Family Rights, Assessment of Patients, Care of Patients, Anaesthesia and Surgical Care, Medication Management and Use and Patient and Family Education) and Health Care Organization Management Standards (Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, Prevention and Control of Infections, Governance, Leadership and Direction, Facility Management and Safety, Staff Qualification and Education and Management of Information)

JCI Surveyors Elijah J Gilreath, Charles Welborn, Bonny Chen and Ravinder Uberoi led by Robert Christmas, the Field Director, were impressed by Badr Al Samaa staff. In both culmination events held at Badr Al Samaa Hospital, Ruwi and Al Khoud, they appreciated the hospitality, cooperation and professionalism of everyone involved. They mentioned, in some areas and departments Badr Al Samaa’s quality standards exceeded the ones laid by JCI, USA.
