Badr Al Samaa Medical Centre, Mabella launched Special Badr Diabetes Club 

Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals understands the need of better diabetes management to help the people of Oman manage it well and lead a healthier life. Diabetes is a risk factor for many critical diseases. Uncontrolled diabetes becomes a reason of additional health complications.  Diabetes affects everybody’s life and productivity due to exhaustion and fatigue caused by it. This was the motivation behind launching Badr Diabetes Club.

The launch program was attended by Dr. Qamra Al Sariri, Director General Quality Assurance Centre, Ministry of Health, Firasath Hassan, Executive Director of Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, senior management, doctors and all clinical and non-clinical staff of Badr Al Samaa.

Dr. Qamra Al Sariri said that such initiatives are need of the hour and she is very happy that Badr Al Samaa is taking lead in the community initiatives for raising awareness on chronic disease like diabetes and its effective management. She said such initiatives will go a long way in managing the disease well and improve the quality of life of such patients.

Dr. Qamra Al Sariri said Badr Diabetes Club is a good step forward in expanding the scope of general practice into chronic disease management. It allows patients with Type 2 Diabetes to be managed in a holistic approach. This is better for patients and it also frees up hospital resources for more complex cases. She hopes that the Diabetes Cycle of Care service will be used as a model for more chronic diseases to be looked after in the community, such as COPD and Asthma. She was very glad that Badr Al Samaa is taking lead in the community initiatives for raising awareness on chronic disease like diabetes and its effective management. She said such initiatives will go a long way in the management and control of the disease and hence better life style that improve the quality of life of such patients.

The enrolled privilege member of the club can avail 50% discount on consultation for six month from the date of registration. Regular diabetes education material and health tips will be shared in the WhatsApp group of Diabetes Club. The member is entitled to attend monthly diabetic club meets.  A diet counseling will also be imparted on regular intervals. A blood sugar record book will also be given. There is much more than this to the Badr Diabetes Club.

A special Diabetes Screening package covering all important investigations was also launched at a special price of RO 15 with a free consultation with diabetologist.

Jacob Oommen, Chief Operating Officer on this occasion said the Diabetelogy services are rendered by each of the 13 centres of Badr Al Samaa and similar program are available across many centres and they are planning to launch Diabetes Club across all branches. He said we have all the facilities and resources to deliver good quality services under this program. 

Dr Sideeque, Internal Medicine Specialist, Badr Al Samaa Mabella addressed the event by focusing on global burden of diabetes and importance of diabetic care. He also emphasized on the advancement in the diabetic care and the facilities provided in our diabetic club.
